Alaska Airlines introduces 2 non-stop flights to Belize

Updated: Jan 8, 2022

Alaska Airlines inaugurated its service to Belize, with 2 non-stop flights, one from Seattle, Washington USA, and one from Los Angeles California, on Garifuna Settlement Day, November 19, 2021.

The Boeing 737-800 flew the 2,812 miles from Seattle to Belize, touching down at 4:35pm with 150 passengers and 6 crew.

The second direct flight from Los Angeles touched down a little after 6pm, bringing a similar complement of passengers and crew.

Alaska Airlines’ head of Market Strategy, Kevin Lemme, said the L.A. flights would be 4 times per week, all year round, while the Seattle service would be seasonal, 2 flights per week, from November to April, which are also the months of Belize’s high season for tourism.

Lemme said Alaska initiated the service because their customers will enjoy Belize’s Maya archaeological sites, beautiful jungle environment, trails and caves, and they would certainly want to get out to the Cayes to dive some of the most beautiful underwater sites in the World, and enjoy all the islands have to offer!

Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations Hon. Anthony Mahler welcomed Alaska Airlines arrival, saying the partnership with this major new partner in the industry had been months in the making, but it was an important expansion of service to Belize, promoting the Belize brand abroad at all Alaska destinations, while Belize will be promoting Alaska’s brand as part of its marketing campaign.

Alaska Airlines’ fleet of 322 aircraft flies to over 112 destinations in the Americas, with up to 1,200 flights per day.
