Rob Stanton Olive, a 53-year-old retired American residing in Seine Bight Village, has been formally charged with possession of controlled drugs and exceeding the legal limit for ammunition following a police investigation in Placencia over the weekend.
Â
The charges stem from an incident on Friday afternoon, when police responded to reports of a Caucasian male behaving suspiciously at The Point Restaurant in Placencia Village. Upon arrival, officers encountered Mr. Olive and conducted a consensual search, which yielded no illegal items. However, Mr. Olive voluntarily disclosed that he had a blue Suzuki SUV parked nearby. A search of the vehicle revealed a transparent plastic bag containing a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine beneath the front passenger seat.
Â
Mr. Olive was immediately detained and escorted to the Placencia Police Sub-Station, where the suspected cocaine was weighed and sealed as evidence in his presence.
Â
Later that day, police executed a search warrant at Mr. Olive’s residence in Seine Bight Village. The search uncovered 146 grams of suspected cannabis stored in a refrigerator, along with a black wooden pipe believed to be used for smoking controlled substances. Inside a metal safe, officers discovered 220 .223 Remington live rounds and a Ruger AR-15 rifle loaded with 30 .223 Aguila rounds. Additionally, a Glock 19GEN5 pistol loaded with 15 Hornady 9mm rounds was found, along with several boxes of 9mm ammunition, bringing the total to 170 live rounds.
Â
Authorities informed Mr. Olive that he had exceeded the legal limit for ammunition possession and cautioned him accordingly. He remains in police custody pending further investigation and court proceedings.
