The Ministry of Sustainable Development and Climate Change, through the National Climate Change Office, has unveiled the schedule for Belize Climate Week 2024. Taking place from August 25 to 28 at the Gala Lounge in Orange Walk Town, this year’s event will embrace the theme: “Climate Action: Inspiring Change, Driving Advocacy, Promoting Inclusivity, and Fostering Innovation.”
The week-long event hopes to engage both youth and agricultural sectors in the collective effort to combat climate change. It will kick off on August 25 with an Innovation Fair titled 'Inspiring Change,' which will showcase contributions from government bodies, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector. This fair will set the stage for a series of impactful discussions and displays aimed at highlighting creative solutions and collaborative efforts.
The official opening ceremony on August 26 will feature presentations from climate change experts both from Belize and the wider region. These presentations are designed to engage and motivate young participants, highlighting the crucial role they play in the fight against climate change.
On August 27, the focus will shift to a Youth and Agriculture Forum. This forum will serve as a platform for dynamic exchanges between young people and agricultural stakeholders, emphasizing their pivotal role in shaping sustainable practices and policies.
The final day of the event, August 28, will be dedicated to Negotiators Training in preparation for COP29. This training is intended to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed for effective negotiations on the global stage, further strengthening Belize’s role in international climate discussions.
Belize Climate Week 2024 promises to be a vibrant and engaging event, bringing together a diverse group of youths from across the nation. The week is set to find solutions, advocate for climate resilience, and drive innovation in addressing climate change challenges.
