The body of Raheem Usher, a Belizean man who had been missing for nearly a month, was discovered early Thursday morning in San Antonio Village, Orange Walk District. His remains were found inside a black garbage bag with his hands cuffed and two gunshot wounds to the forehead.
A handwritten note, left alongside the body, raised alarming questions about possible police involvement in the drug trade.
The note, written on cardboard, read: “This is going to happen to those ‘Chapulines’ who continue to bring down planes with drugs.”
Despite being reported missing in late January, Usher’s body showed no signs of decomposition, leading to questions whether he was killed recently or if his body had been stored elsewhere before being dumped.
Usher is the nephew of one of the officers named on the note, further complicating the investigation.
