Buy Belizean Campaign kicks off with Informational Session

The Office of the Prime Minister, in collaboration with BELTRAIDE, held a Buy Belizean Information and Exchange session at the Phoenix Business Center in Belmopan on Tuesday, July 9th.


This gathering brought together stakeholders from the public and private sectors to deliberate and outline strategies aimed at bolstering local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).


The "Buy Belizean" campaign is a part of the Government of Belize’s strategy to promote the consumption of locally manufactured goods, thereby bolstering Belizean enterprises and fostering national economic growth. Through engaging discussions, participants shared insights and engaged in a productive exchange of ideas on how to further advance the impact of the Buy Belizean initiative.


Representatives from various key entities, including the Ministry of Agriculture, Investment Policy and Compliance Unit (IPCU), Belize Bureau of Standards (BBS), Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Directorate General for Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Rural Development, Economic Development Council (EDC), Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth, BELTRAIDE, Ministry of Blue Economy, and the Government of Belize’s Press Office actively participated in the session.


Dr. Leroy Almendarez, Executive Director of BELTRAIDE, emphasized the significance of nurturing local economic development, elevating product standards, and fostering sustainable business prospects within Belize. He expressed, “Today's session marks a significant stride towards fortifying our local economy and empowering our MSMEs, and we eagerly anticipate sustained collaboration and advancements in this initiative.”


The Buy Belizean campaign offers support to domestic businesses, urging consumers to choose Belizean products and services to drive economic prosperity and resilience within the nation.
