Chon Saan Palace has issued a warning on it's Faceook page, stating that some call center agents in Belize are allegedly using clients’ stolen credit card information to make unauthorized purchases, a practice the company says poses a serious threat to the entire industry.
In a statement, the company cautioned that the misuse of sensitive financial data puts call center operations at risk of losing international contracts, as overseas partners demand strict compliance with data protection and security standards.
The company emphasized that the potential fallout would extend far beyond individual offenders. If international clients withdraw their business from Belize, call centers could shut down or relocate, leading to widespread job losses and economic hardship for families who depend on the sector.
The call center industry currently employs thousands of Belizeans and plays a vital role in the national economy. Chon Saan Palace urged employees across the industry to safeguard client information and act responsibly, stressing that ethical conduct is essential to maintaining Belize’s reputation as a trusted outsourcing destination.
“If call centers leave Belize, everyone loses,” the statement said, calling on workers to help protect both the industry and the country’s economic future.
