Elderly Residents Fight Back in Deadly Blackman Eddy Home Invasion

A late-night home invasion in Blackman Eddy Village ended fatally for one of the suspected attackers after three elderly residents fought back in self-defense.

Police have identified the deceased as 25-year-old Sergio Andino, a resident of San Ignacio. The incident unfolded around 1:00 a.m. Thursday, when officers responded to reports of an armed burglary in progress. Upon arrival, they found Andino lying motionless inside the home with multiple chop wounds.

According to investigators, a 70-year-old woman, a 65-year-old woman, and a 57-year-old man were asleep when two armed intruders—one with a machete and the other with a handgun—forced their way inside. The suspects allegedly attacked the occupants, striking one resident with the firearm.

A violent struggle ensued between the male resident and one of the attackers. During the chaos, the 65-year-old woman managed to wrestle the machete away from the assailant. Fearing for her life and the safety of her family, she struck the intruder, inflicting fatal injuries.

The second suspect escaped, reportedly firing two gunshots as he fled, but no one was struck. All three residents sustained varying injuries and were issued medical forms for treatment.

Andino was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Police remained at the scene into the early morning, collecting evidence and taking statements.

Authorities are now actively searching for the remaining suspect and are urging anyone with information to contact them immediately.
