Ministry of Education Signs Contracts to Expand ConnectED Program for Enhanced Education

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, and Technology (MoECST) continues to bridge the digital divide by signing two contracts with Digi, the national telecommunications company, to expand the ConnectED program.

The program will provide reliable, high-speed internet access to schools across Belize, enhancing the quality of education through online connectivity. Currently 213 schools nationwide are connected and will be expanded to include an additional 70 schools. This expansion is expected to provide internet access to more than 78,000 students and 4,500 teachers, creating new opportunities for learning and growth. With this program, students and teachers will be able to use the internet to access a wide range of educational resources, helping to enhance teaching and learning experiences.

The signing ceremony took place at Our Lady of the Way Roman Catholic School in Ladyville Village, where the school also received a donation of 21 Chromebook computers from the MoECST.
