A 15-year old minor is in police custody in connection with the Saturday night shooting murder of Kevaughan Morris, 21, an unemployed of Allan Pitts Cresent. The minor, who is of an address in Belize City, is being held for questioning regarding the murder, which occurred just after 7:00 p.m. on March 27, when several gunshots erupted in the vicinity of Cesar Ridge Road. Responding to the scene, police officers combed the area and soon after discovered Morris’s bullet-riddled body.
The victim was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was admitted for treatment in a critical condition and passed away shortly after. Speaking with the media on Monday, March 29, Sr. Superintendent Hilberto Romero, deputy head of the National Crimes Investigation Branch, confirmed that investigations have revealed that Morris was sitting down on a cement fence in the field talking to another individual when someone walked up to the area and fired multiple gunshots at him, causing the fatal injuries. ”The information we have is that the deceased was the intended target,”
Romero added. “We are just in the infancy stage of the investigation so we are not certain what led to this murder. The deceased is known to the police, however, there is no evidence to suggest whether his murder is connected or related to any of the previous murders.”
