MSME Tax Amnesty Extended Until End of 2025

The Government of Belize has announced that the MSME Tax Amnesty Programme has been extended until December 31, 2025. The announcement was made during a Special Sitting of the House of Representatives on October 17.

The programme, coordinated by the Office of the Prime Minister in partnership with BELTRAIDE, the Investment Policy and Compliance Unit (IPCU), the Belize Tax Service (BTS), the Belize Companies and Corporate Affairs Registry (BCCAR), the Economic Development Council (EDC), and the Ministry of Local Government and City and Town Councils, gives small businesses extra time to benefit from important tax relief measures.

Through the extension, eligible Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) now have more time to clear outstanding business tax penalties and interest and qualify for up to one year of business tax exemption. The extra time will also allow for the processing of pending applications from previous Roadshow events to ensure that all qualified MSMEs receive their Tax Amnesty Certificates.

The next stop of the Tax Amnesty Roadshow will take place on October 27 in Belmopan at the Belmopan Civic Center. Dates for three other locations have also been adjusted — San Pedro on November 4, Caye Caulker on November 5, and Punta Gorda on November 7 — to give more businesses a chance to participate.

The Government congratulated the many MSMEs that have already joined the programme and taken important steps toward formalizing and growing their businesses.
