The Ministry of Health and Wellness is informing the public that the National Health Insurance (NHI) program is now available at several additional government health facilities.

These facilities include Cleopatra White Polyclinic II in Belize City, Belmopan Polyclinic at the Western Regional Hospital, San Ignacio Community Hospital, Duck Run Clinic, and the San Antonio Health Centre.

Members of the public are encouraged to register for NHI services at any of these facilities by visiting the clinic in person or by using the QR code on the informational flyers.

The National Health Insurance program was established in Belize in 2000 as part of health sector reforms aimed at improving access to quality and affordable health care. The program is funded through the Government of Belize and administered through the Social Security system.

Under the NHI program, registered patients can access a range of primary health care services, including doctor consultations, nursing services, laboratory tests, and certain medications listed on the national formulary.

NHI providers also support services such as maaternal and child health care, monitoring and treatment for chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension, and screening for illnesses including HIV and certain cancers.

Health officials say the continued expansion of the NHI program is part of the government’s effort to ensure that more Belizeans have greater access to essential health services in their communities.

Residents are encouraged to register and take advantage of the services available through the program.
