Panton-led faction Strengthens with Backing from Cayo North and Orange Walk East Constituencies

The Tracy-Panton-led faction of the United Democratic Party (UDP) announced, via press release, unified support from Cayo North and Orange Walk East constituencies, supporting Hon. Tracy Panton's leadership as Interim Leader following a recent vote by more than 330 delegates at the Unity National Convention.

The press release follows statements made by the UDP standard bearers for the Cayo North and Orange Walk East divisions, Omar Figueroa and Elodio Aragon, respectively.

The press release issued on October 31 emphasized the commitment of both constituencies to align with the mandate of the Unity National Convention held on October 20. It described an effort by constituency leaders and executive members toward fostering stability and growth within the UDP.

The release stated that the endorsements from Cayo North and Orange Walk East both reflect a shared commitment to accountability, integrity, and progress. The press release highlighted that the constituencies' goal is to contribute to a UDP focused on "integrity, accountability, and purposeful leadership." This statement outlines the faction’s objectives of unity and dedication to democratic principles.

Hon. Tracy Panton commented on the support, stating, "The support from the Cayo North and Orange Walk East constituencies is a powerful affirmation of our shared vision for a unified, strong UDP." She further noted, "Together, we are building a UDP that listens to its members and is prepared to lead with purpose." The emphasis on unity and collaboration aligns with Panton's stated focus on inclusivity and stronger party leadership.

These latest endorsements follow the Unity National Convention, held on October 20, where 333 out of 535 delegates voted in favor of Panton's leadership. The vote, organized by the faction led by Panton, signaled, a minimum, growing dissent with the party's leadership.

The release underscored that the Panton-led faction’s approach prioritizes stability and leadership focused on inclusivity, involving constituency representatives, delegates, and supporters.
