Alex Ysaguirre Appointed as Belize City's New Chief Internal Auditor

The Belize City Council has announced the appointment of Alex Ysaguirre as the new Chief Internal Auditor, effective May 20, 2024.

According to the council, Ysaguirre was chosen after an evaluation process conducted by the interview committee, which acknowledged his qualifications and dedication to excellence. With over twenty years of experience in accounting, Mr. Ysaguirre is well-equipped to take on the responsibilities of this position, holding both a Master’s in International Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.

Additionally, the council emphasized Ysaguirre’s expertise in Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) measures, highlighting his suitability for the role. They also stressed the importance of his knowledge in accounting principles and regulatory compliance, noting that it will significantly contribute to improving internal auditing processes and ensuring transparency and accountability within the organization.
