BAHA Warns Against Sale and Import of Unregistered Veterinary Products

The Belize Agricultural Health Authority (BAHA) is warning the public about the illegal importation and sale of unregistered or expired veterinary products and animal feed in Belize.
According to BAHA, the Authority has received reports of individuals seeking donations of expired veterinary medications from international donors, as well as unregistered online businesses selling unpermitted veterinary drugs, pesticides, biologics (such as vaccines), hygiene and care products, and animal feed.
BAHA reminds the public that all such products are regulated under Statutory Instrument No. 184 of 2001: Belize Agricultural Health Authority (Veterinary Drugs and Animal Feed – Registration and Control Regulations), and must be registered with the Veterinary Drugs Control Unit and have valid import permits before entering the country.
The Authority stressed that the importation, distribution, or sale of expired, unregistered, or unpermitted veterinary products is strictly prohibited, and violators will face the maximum fines under SI No. 34 of the BAHA Act, Chapter 211.
“Safeguarding Belize’s agricultural health is our priority,” BAHA stated, urging full compliance with importation regulations to protect the safety and integrity of Belize’s agricultural sector, trade, and public health.
