Today, Hon. Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health & Wellness of Belize, and H.E. Lily Li-Wen Hsu, Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), led a handing-over ceremony to mark a significant contribution from the Taiwanese NGO, the Cao Zhong Zhi Foundation.
The donation, valued at US$25,500, comprises 240 adult wheelchairs, 50 children's wheelchairs, 80 steel commodes, 160 aluminum walkers, and 400 aluminum walking sticks. This generous gesture is poised to greatly enhance the quality of life for numerous Belizeans while bolstering health services nationwide.
Taiwan, a steadfast ally in healthcare and public health endeavors, continues to extend its support to global health initiatives despite the intricate landscape of international relations. Today's donation underscores Taiwan's unwavering commitment to assisting communities worldwide, particularly in times of adversity, and underscores the significance of solidarity and collaboration in tackling global public health challenges.
In his address, Minister Bernard conveyed gratitude to the Cao Zhong Zhi Foundation, as well as the people and Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), for their steadfast support and friendship. He reiterated Belize's advocacy for Taiwan's inclusion in the World Health Organization (WHO), emphasizing the imperative for all global stakeholders, including Taiwan, to have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to international health endeavors.
This collaboration between Belize and Taiwan serves as a testament to the spirit of international cooperation and the shared objective of attaining health equity for all.
