Punta Gorda Town opened of its first-ever Art Gallery and Museum. The new space highlights the creative talents of southern Belize, featuring a vibrant collection of clothing, baskets, jewelry, and other handmade pieces crafted by 22 women artisans.
These talented women recently completed the “Advanced Product Development and Design – Vocational Training for Indigenous Women Artisans in Southern Belize” program. Their works reflect a blend of traditional skills, celebrating both heritage and modern crafts.
The project was made possible through a partnership between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Culture, and Immigration, the Home of Indigenous Arts Belize Limited, and the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
The gallery and museum are expected to become a creative hub for both locals and visitors, offering a platform for indigenous artisans to display their work, generate income, and strengthen Belize’s cultural identity.
