Police have once again been called to the Port Loyola area in Belize City after the discovery of a body along the coastline, raising fresh concerns among residents.
Authorities say the body is believed to be that of 17-year-old Alwin Marin Jr. It was found in an area southwest of the port, the same general location where police had been investigating the discovery of another body just last week.
In that earlier case, a 19-year-old was found dead, prompting an active murder investigation. The recurrence of such incidents in the same vicinity has unsettled the community, with residents expressing fear and uncertainty about safety in the area.
Adding to the concern is the report that a teenager connected to the previous case has since gone missing. While this has led to speculation about a possible link between the cases, police have not confirmed any connection at this time.
Investigators have also not yet officially identified the body recovered in the latest incident, as they continue to gather evidence and await further forensic results.
Police say investigations are ongoing as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the death and whether it is related to the earlier killing. Residents in the area are being urged to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to authorities.
