Teen Drowns in Belize River; Lord’s Bank Residents Seek Answers

Seventeen-year-old Caleb Bradley drowned in the Belize River on Wednesday; however, concerns have been raised over the response efforts during the search.
Bradley had gone swimming with friends in Lord’s Bank when he failed to resurface after entering the water. According to reports, about ten minutes passed before the group realized he was missing. Their attempts to locate him were unsuccessful.
Police were called to the scene at approximately 4:25 p.m., but Bradley remained unaccounted for. The Belize Coast Guard was also contacted but did not respond that evening.
Residents, family members, and friends conducted an overnight search along the riverbank. At around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, a volunteer located Bradley’s body.
Police have since launched an investigation into the incident.
